THERMOCHIP® sandwich panels for a track at the European Athletics Championships

He2005 European Indoor Athletics Championshipswas held in theSports Palace of Madridon THERMOCHIP® sandwich panels. 4,200 square metres of surface were covered with panels THERMOCHIP® THH, the simplest finish in the range formed by two waterproof chipboard boards joined to an insulating core of extruded polystyrene foam, to create a competition track.

The pavilion ofSports Palace of MadridIt needed to expand its surface to accommodate all the competition courts. After an evaluation of different materials with which to make the expansion, it was the opinions of the athletes themselves that determined that the sandwich panel was chosen as the material for this work.THERMOCHIP®. To do this, the original track was raised 3 metres, creating a metal structure that would support the panel.THERMOCHIP® THH. Once the panel was placed, it was covered with a polyurethane tartan approved for athletics tracks.

LOADING, INSULATION AND DECORATIVE ELEMENTS

THERMOCHIP® THH It offers the possibility of different configurations depending on the use that is going to be given to the panel and the required performance, fundamentally taking into account the load and insulation values. Furthermore, our sandwich panels accept all types of material on the outside and allow painting, wallpaper and other decorative treatments on the inside.

He European Indoor Athletics Championships, organized by the European Athletics Association, has been held since 1970. It is the most important athletic event of the winter, except in years when the Olympic Games or European Championships are held.
