THERMOCHIP collaborates in the rehabilitation of the Galician government offices in San Caetano

The Xunta de Galicia will be at the forefront of energy efficiency in its facilities.San Caetano.

The works for the comprehensive reform of the Galician government offices inSantiago de CompostelaThey are already underway. The execution is carried out by Acciona with the help of the prestigious Coruña studio Diaz&diazarquitectos, winner of the competition held in 2019.

The phase that is currently being carried out includes the expansion and modification of the façade of one of the buildings located at the back of the complex also known as “The Espellos Building”. The rehabilitation consists of expanding the space and replacing the current façade with a new façade with high energy performance and a new aesthetic that is more in line with the rest of the buildings in the complex.

The process to be able to carry out the works and keep the building active involves installing an ephemeral façade, which will act as an enclosure during the dismantling and execution of the new façade. In this sense, a façade made from THERMOCHIP panels has been arranged that allows all thermal and acoustic comfort requirements to be met and, at the same time, also offers a completely removable and reusable system, reducing assembly times, avoiding waste management to landfill and guaranteeing the sustainability of the project.

For the new façade of the building, a prototype has been executed, during which THERMOCHIP has been present, offering system training from its technical department to the installers in charge of carrying out the work, as well as collaborating with the diaz&diazarquitectos office regarding regulatory compliance of said project. This prototype has been validated, including all the enclosure elements, carpentry and opening fencing that will be executed. This aspect of training is fundamental for innovative systems, providing certainty that what was planned will actually be carried out in the final work.

THERMOCHIP plays a fundamental role as the enclosure of this new projected façade. Intrinsic advantages to THERMOCHIP, such as dry assembly, industrialized construction or the digitalization of the process, make saving water consumption, optimizing energy in all phases or avoiding waste management on site, a common issue in all the proposals that use our systems, providing sustainability to the entire project in each of the different phases.

In addition to this, all THERMOCHIP systems have all the guarantees by having the DAU certificate (Document of Suitability for Use), a certificate issued by the ITeC for innovative systems giving the highest guarantees and certainties of compliance with the CTE (Technical Building Code). In terms of high energy efficiency features, the THERMOCHIP systems also have the Passive House certificate, which represents a certified contribution of high thermal and air-tightness features, endorsed by the Passive House Institute.

In this way THERMOCHIP allows a simple, efficient and certified construction of all the solutions that are implemented in projects of this type. In this case, the intervention carried out allows a saving in heating demand of up to 95%, where the façade renovation panel is essential to achieve this level of efficiency, aligning with the SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) of the UN, which converge in the current current global transformation.
