According to Trip Advisor, the Boardwalk Boutique hotel is one of the best hotels that can be found in Aruba. This bohemian oasis of colorful “casitas” is in the north area of the island, between the Marriott and the Ritz Carlton. The hotel has an intimate and relaxed atmosphere, and it’s a perfect place for visitors that want to enjoy the Caribbean with comfort, avoiding all the distractions big resorts sometimes bring along.

This property was an old coconut plantation, and to the owners it was important to maintain the natural soul of the siting. In regards to the concept, the managers wanted to rely on the old charm of the villages and cities in europe, applying the Caribbean laid back barefoot style. The architecture of the hotel is Caribbean based with authentic elements: cathedral ceilings made with our THERMOCHIP® TAH, hardwood pathways, coral stone tiles on floors and walls, Caribbean tiles, and wood cladding in and outside.

Currently, the Boardwalk Boutique has 25 small buildings that house 46 “casitas”, a cozy lobby, 2 swimming pools and tropical gardens with resting areas. The complex is located just steps away from the famous “Palm Beach”.

The casitas that set up the hotel are the hallmark of this project; these differ according to the degree of comfort and size they offer. All of them have their own large deck with dining set, hammock, and barbecue. Its extensions range from units of 75m2 to 125m2 with all the necessary comfort to spend a few days of rest and luxury in the Caribbean. Inside we’ll find different themes, such as the “plunge pool casita” with its own private pool, or the “Palapa Lodge“, which is in a round thatched roof building.

Pitched wooden roofs made of THERMOCHIP® TAH

The THERMOCHIP® TAH panels from the THERMOCHIP® ROOF range were chosen as the roofing system for the pitched wooden roofs of the casitas. Our prefabricated panels for pitched roofs, THERMOCHIP® TAH, consist of a fiberboard plank, an insulating extruded polystyrene core (XPS) and a wood finish on the interior side, that comes in different decorative options.

Kimberly Rooijakkers, the hotel manager, explains that our THERMOCHIP® panels were chosen due to their high insulation capacity, which allows them to maintain a stable and pleasant temperature inside the rooms, and their decorative finish. In this case, the interior ceiling was chosen in a white-painted wood, that combines perfectly with the minimalist design of the interior.

THERMOCHIP® a fast and efficient construction System

The installation process of our THERMOCHIP® panels in each house took just a few hours, thanks to its assembly system that is based on a tongue-and-groove joint system on all four sides. THERMOCHIP® TAH has provided a stable and homogenous roof infrastructure, essential to withstand Aruba’s high wind loads.

Additionally, a waterproofing layer has been installed with our THERMOCHIP® ROOF PLUS system, which consists of a waterproof sheet attached on the exterior side of the panel. This gives an extra resistance to the tendency of water. An adhesive tape is used to fix the panels together on the lateral lapel which guaranties a more precise waterproof system and, therefore, it reduces the errors when installing the product.
