Industrialized construction: the experience of Grupo GALO with Thermochip

Industrialized construction is progressively consolidating itself as a solid and reliable alternative to traditional systems, especially in a context where control of deadlines, costs, quality and sustainability is decisive. In this interview Manuel López, architect of Grupo GALO, shares with us his experience in the application of dry construction solutions, addressing the reasons that led them to opt for industrialisation, the choice of Thermochip panels as a fundamental part of their construction system and the benefits obtained both in construction management and in the satisfaction of the end customer. The shift to industrialisation

What led you to take the step towards industrialized construction and what problems did it help you solve compared to the traditional system? Let’s talk about your project.

A:The step towards industrialized construction arises from a very clear reflection: we needed a system that would allow us to control the process from start to finish, reduce the uncertainty inherent to traditional construction and respond to an increasingly demanding demand in terms of deadlines, quality and sustainability.

industrialisation – and specifically the steel frame system combined with Thermochip panels – has allowed us to work with much more predictable costs, practically without deviations, and with realistic planning from the project phase. This eliminates one of the major problems of the traditional system: surprises during execution.

A good example is Casa Galmer, where we have completed the entire process in seven months, something that is difficult to achieve with conventional methods. Speed ​​does not come at the expense of quality; on the contrary. Manufacturing in a controlled environment guarantees millimeter precision, so that what is defined in the project is executed exactly the same on site.

Furthermore, we are talking about a more efficient and sustainable system, with optimized use of materials, less waste andaMuch cleaner execution. For us, industrialisation is not only a way to build faster, but to build better, with greater technical control and greater reliability for the client.

One of the main advantages that we highlight after using them on site is the possibility of executing a continuous envelope throughout the home, which allows us to practically eliminate thermal bridges. This translates into better energy performance, greater interior comfort and a much more coherent construction from a technical point of view.

Ease of installation and execution

From a construction point of view, how has the assembly and installation experience been? Have you found it easier and more efficient than traditional construction systems?

A:From a construction point of view, the assembly and installation experience has been very positive and highly efficient. From the first moment we have felt accompanied by Thermochip, not only at the product level, but also at the technical and human level, something fundamental when working with industrialized systems.

We would like to especially highlight the work ofAntonio Dominguez, who went to the site to train the entire team in the correct installation of the panels and has been attentive throughout the entire process, resolving doubts and ensuring that the execution was carried out in accordance with the system. This type of support makes a big difference on site and provides a lot of security to the team.

Compared to traditional construction systems, the process is clearly simpler and more efficient. Since everything was defined and studied from the factory, we knew exactly where each panel should be placed.Thermochip, which allowed us to optimize times, reduce errors and practically minimize material waste.

This way of working not only improves productivity on site, but also reinforces the idea that well-planned industrialisation is synonymous with control, precision and final quality.

How has the planning, coordination and logistics of the work changed when working with industrialized systems?

A:The use of industrialized systems has meant a very significant change in the organisation and management of the work. As both the steel frame structure and the envelope are made ofThermochipcompletely defined, calculated and manufactured previously, the work stops being a space for improvisation and becomes a phase of precise execution.

When the systems arrive on site, the process is practically direct: it is assembled without loss of time, without doubts and without last-minute decisions, since everything is previously resolved in the design and manufacturing phase, with millimeter tolerances. This greatly simplifies coordination between the different trades and drastically reduces the downtime common in traditional construction.

Thanks to this approach, we can plan the actual execution deadlines from the beginning of the project, coordinating supplies and equipment with much greater reliability. The result is a more orderly, predictable and efficient work, where surprises are minimized and the technical and economic control of the process is maximized.

Result and final client

Have you noticed differences in end customer satisfaction and after-sales since using industrialized systems like Thermochip?

A:Without a doubt, the use of industrialized systems has meant a very clear improvement in end customer satisfaction. In fact, many clients look for us precisely because of the advantages that this type of construction offers over the traditional system.

The reduction in deadlines is one of the most valued factors: we are talking about execution times that are practically 50% shorter than those of a conventional work, which provides peace of mind and much more reliable planning for the client.
