THERMOCHIP® Phenolic with birch finish for the roofs of the Granollers Hospital-Asylum

The covers of theGranollers Hospital-Asylum, health and social care centre, have been rehabilitated withTHERMOCHIP® Phenolic (TFH). This healthcare centre, classified as a historic building, has relied on our wooden sandwich panels to achieve agreat insulationand onerenewed aestheticthanks to a white stripped birch wood finish.

To complete the project, 600 square metres of panels were needed THERMOCHIP® TFH, made up of a 9 mm birch plywood board, an 80 mm extruded polystyrene core and a 19 mm water-repellent chipboard exterior. The choice of THERMOCHIP® Phenolic This was due to the fact that it is a high-performance panel, which allows great insulation and to the excellent qualities of the boards that make up the interior face of the sandwich.

WINDOWS IN INTERIOR COURTS 

The finish in white stripped birch gives the work a touch ofmodernitythat allows us to reveal the beauty of thenatural wood grain. In addition, the decorative beams and exposed trusses have been painted the same stripped white, achieving a full integration into the shell.

In the upper part of the roof, several rectangular windows have been arranged that give the space a beautifulnatural lighting. The rehabilitated space, designed in the form of pavilions, adapts to the new design of the recently expanded outpatient clinic building. Between the new building and the existing one,interior patiosto ventilate and illuminate all hospital rooms.

HeGranollers Hospital-Asylum one of the most outstanding works of the architect Josep María Miró i Guibernau. Created in 1923, the centre underwent successive expansions in its facilities to adapt it to the needs of a growing population and technological advances.
