The construction sector faces a new stage with the birth of theOffSite Construction Hub, created with the aim of promoting a new production model in Spain, in which the methodology is promotedOffsite Construction. The focus of the Hub is industrialized construction, a key methodology in new construction that, together with the 4.0 concept and decarbonization, allows increasing and improving the speed of construction, guaranteeing more efficient building.
Likewise, it will promote the reduction of the carbon footprint, the production of higher quality and not necessarily more expensive housing, as well as the improvement of the working conditions of the workforce associated with construction through the implementation of safer, more comfortable, controlled environments with less occupational risk.
The OffSite Construction Hub will also be responsible for integrating the corresponding institutions into this value chain so that administrative processes are streamlined efficiently, innovate jointly and in parallel with the sector, and promote the sharing of all actors involved in this process with the aim of improving social perception of the construction sector.
In the first study carried out by the Hub, more than 70 players were detected in the value chain. That is whyThe first objective of this movement is to group and represent allplayersand professionals participating in the life cycle of offsite construction. Off-site constructionOffsite Construction) refers to the pre-construction, planning, project using innovative techniques (software), manufacturing and assembly of construction elements, of different materials and construction systems in a location other than their final location.

The Hub, which will work under the format of a non-profit association and is already legally established in Spain, was officially presented last September in Barcelona within the framework ofREBUILD, the main sectoral meeting forum that promotes innovation to drive the transformation of buildings. Luis Fernández, president of the OffSite Construction Hub and General Manager ofThermochip, and Andrés Navarra, vice president of the OffSite Construction Hub and CEO ofKiwi Homes, who highlighted that they seek“create a new production model in which collaborative research is encouraged to produce constructions of higher quality and efficiency.”
The presentation also included the presence of Gema Traveria, director ofREBUILDand founding member of the association, who noted:“This association represents progress in the transformation of the productive model of the sector in Spain through industrialisation, a step forward towards efficiency and innovation that REBUILD is proud to present.”
In the OffSite Construction Hub everyone has space, and proof of this is that large companies such as Avintia, Thermochip, Baxi and Sika have already shown their interest in participating, also joining startups from the Constech sector such as KiwiHomes and adding specialists fromBIM AcademyandIntelectium Ventures.
All those interested in joining this pioneering association in Spain can request more information throughinfo@offsitehub.org. Follow the progress of off-site construction on your profilelinkedin.
